Ethical Concerns that Relate to My Big Question

Throughout the world, every field has ethical concerns that follow them. My big question that I asked was why do women have to compromise to live in a man’s world? Since I have chosen to study the world through the lens of feminism, there are lots of ethical concerns that follow. One topic that can be addressed is intersectional feminism. Intersectional feminism takes into account the many different ways each woman experiences discrimination. On a daily basis, women all over the world are subjected to intersectional feminism. Whether it’s all women being subjected to the wage gap, or where some women are affected even more harshly due to their race or how in the LGBTQ community there are more murders towards them and they are more likely to be victims if they are a person of color and or transgender. White feminism completely ignores intersectionality and doesn’t recognize the discriminations that are experienced by women who aren’t white. But this being said it is important to point out that not all feminist who are white practice white feminism. Women face race discrimination from one direction and gender discrimination from the other direction. No matter which way you look at it, women are constantly under attack. Two women named Laci Green and Franchesca Ramsey have addressed the topic of intersectional feminism. They came up with three steps in achieving intersectional feminism, these steps are: examine our own privileges, listen to each other and practice feminism through a broader, more inclusive lens. I think that by taking into account these three steps we as a society of women will be able to understand each person’s story and background more. Although we are all different it’s not that hard to listen and understand another person. Women everywhere have to take a stand and look out for each other instead of only caring about themselves. More women around the world should try to implement these steps into their daily lives. At the end of the day we are all on the same team, we are all sisters here for one another.
